About me

Well… this is me: Sander Nieuwenhuizen. Don’t wanna bother you with a full bio – but I’m an enthusiast in the field of agile software development and software architecture. Not your average nerd – at least I try to pretend not to be ;)

Since a couple of years I write enterprise Java-software. I really started with Java / enterprise development during my internship back in 2004. This was related to using message-oriented software to keep several disconnected systems up to date and in synch with each other. That was my real first touch of enterprise Java. I had some basic sessions back at the university, but that didn’t really kick in. I stayed playing this field and I did some very cool stuff. Starting as a developer contributing simple pieces of larger systems, but continuously learned from some very good fokes and broadened my scope.

Currently I work as a Java/J2EE architect, focused not only at software architecture but also on software (website) performance and agile project management. Scrum is one of my main interests. I am a certified Scrum Master since early 2009.

Besides work…

During my offtime I like to take pictures with my Nikon D80. Still learning a lot about it – but it’s loads of fun. You could check my photo gallery. Furthermore, music is one of my passions. I can’t remember the last day I did not use my iPod. I tend to listen lot’s of (hard) rock music – but scanning my iTunes list gives me a broad range from hip hop to Jeff Buckley to Intwine (one of my fav’s) to Slipknot. And I’ve got a passion for playing golf, having a good meal with a nice glass of wine.

Whow… is that my life in a nutshell (that’s a little scary) ? Don’t think so, but it gives you an idea!
